Our study “Ensnared in Poverty – A Study on Rural Indebtedness in India” undertaken for ASSOCHAM presents the trajectory of rural debt in India and an analysis of its reasons and consequences. It provides a comparative analysis of the situation from 2002 to 2012 followed by a study of the impact of new schemes introduced since 2014. It then lists out the challenges in implementing these schemes and provides possible solutions.
